Made in Bavaria, likely in the 1940s, this Gerold Porzellan lidded jar has an ivory porcelain body with teal-green botanical decoration, stippled gold, a wide gilt collar and gold finial. Marked Gerold Porzellan Bavaria, 5325 II.
Ginger jars have a tendency to announce themselves all at once. This one takes its time. The teal and gold change with the light — sometimes nearly disappearing into the ivory, sometimes coming forward.
It can hold its own against pattern and color or stand alone.
10” high × 7” wide.
No chips or cracks. Minor imperfections consistent with age.
