Hand-blown glass, opaque kelly green. The color is unambiguous — not olive, not sage. Green the way an apple actually is.
The body is cased — an inner layer of opaque kelly green encased in a clear outer skin — which gives the color its depth and the surface its glassy luminosity. The stem and leaf are worked separately in translucent green and applied, with real texture visible in the glass. The base shows a pontil mark and two small trapped bubbles, which is how you know it was made by hand, not cast in a mold.
The quality of the work suggests the mid-century European studio glass tradition — the kind of object that came out of a lineage where even small decorative pieces were made with full attention. No maker’s mark remains. The artist’s intent is lost, but the work is not.
On a shelf. On a mantle. Next to something that needs a little weight and a lot of color.
No chips, no cracks. A small deliberate inclusion on the body — a wormhole worked into the glass, visible in photos. A maker’s choice, not a flaw.
Approximately 4 inches tall.
