A large brass tray, 22 inches, hand-chased with a dense, all-over foliate spray design radiating across the surface.
Bordered by a scalloped, rolled edge with a fine leaf-and-scroll band just inside it. Turn it over and the pattern shows through on the back, where the design was hammered into the metal. Often sold simply as engraved brass.
Fitted with a single hanging hook on the reverse. Displays equally well on a wall or as a tabletop tray. Unmarked, origin unknown.
Natural tarnish and iridescent patina throughout, consistent with age and use.
