For a November birthday, or whoever gets put in charge of the Thanksgiving centerpiece.
A cotton flour sack towel, hand-embroidered with the chrysanthemum, November's birth flower. It shows up after everything else in the garden has gone home. Rose and berry blooms, sage leaves. Washed twice, so it's already settled. Flour sack cotton is what our grandmothers kept for glassware and rising dough, because it leaves no lint. Throw it over the Thanksgiving rolls while they proof.
The frog is clear pressed glass with eleven holes, heavy enough to stay put. It's called a frog because it sits on the bottom of the vase. Nobody remembers who started that.
Set it in a low bowl and three stems become an arrangement. One mum and a bud will do.
Condition: Towel is new, embroidered by hand and washed twice. The frog is unmarked and previously owned, with light wear from age and no chips or sharp edges.
Arrives in a kraft gift box, ready to give.
Towel: 28 × 28 in, 100% cotton. Frog: 3 in wide × 1 in tall.
